10 Weeks and 3 Days Old

Logan is now 10 weeks and 3 days old! He is definately starting to fill out in his cheeks, arms and legs. He weighed 11 lbs. 4 oz. at his 2 month appointment. He smiles, laughs and coos all the time and it is so much fun to watch! I am even able to capture some of his smiles in pictures.
We are working on grabbing objects.....I had to help him out with this one. It's funny because he will have his hand open and then I try to get him to grab something and he closes it. But, he actually grabbed onto this butterfly for several minutes. Then he started to get upset because he couldn't figure out how to let it go! He does a good job of moving his arms and hitting objects, though.

I had to go back to work on Thursday and Friday of this past week, so Jason and his mom stayed home and watched him. This is what happens while I'm away!

Pretty soon I am going to have to open up this mat because he will be too long for it!

I love my Logan Bear and was sad to leave him while I went to work. I did survive my first two days back-they went by pretty fast. I think it will probably get harder when Logan actually knows that I'm leaving. I just don't want to miss too much while I'm away. Even though I was home for 10 weeks with him, it's still hard. I just love sitting and watching him-he makes the best facial expressions and is so much more vocal now.

We went and saw Kate and Emma on Monday and he slept pretty much all day! When we got home I put him in his Pack N Play and this is how he was sleeping!

Logan and Mommy

I cannot believe how fast the time is going by! It seems like we just brought Logan home from the hospital, and now he is 6 weeks old! I only have 4 more precious weeks left with him all to myself, and then I have to go back to work. I have to say that it is going to be really hard to leave him-we have really bonded and enjoy our time together. Logan is definately becoming more aware of his surroundings. He looks around at everything and is starting to smile a lot more. I even get some little laughs out of him every now and then and it makes my heart melt. He is definately going to be a sweet boy with a great personality! Logan enjoys sitting in his bouncy chair, playing on his play mat and taking baths-he really kicks his legs in the tub and gets really happy when I am washing him. We are also working on a bedtime routine-which has gone really well the past couple of nights. We have taken him to church 3 times and he does great! He usually sleeps, but if he is awake he just looks around and is so quiet. Enjoy the pictures of our little boy-he is changing so much!

3 Weeks Old

Logan was 3 weeks old on Wednesday and he is a growing boy! Jason and I both feel so blessed to have such a sweet and handsome boy. He makes us laugh everyday. He is really starting to be more alert and look around a lot. His neck is becoming stronger everday and he can hold his head up well. He also makes very cute noises when he is sleeping-sometimes he even snores a little. We just can't get enough of him! I could just watch him ALL day long! His umbilical cord finally fell off yesterday, so we were able to use his bathtub last night. Logan didn't like it too much though-he got cold. Hopefully he will start liking it-he sure enjoyed his sponge baths-they would soothe him right before bedtime. We also make some progress at night-we usually get one night where he will sleep for about 3-4 hours at a time and then 2-3 the next. I think some nights he is just more hungry than others! Logan also enjoys going for walks in his stroller-we even bought him some cute sunglasses to keep the sun out of his eyes so he can look around!

We had a nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa Sossi over the past 2 weeks. They left today and now I am sad. It was great having some extra hands around here to help out. Grandma gave the house a good cleaning and I am very thankful for that help! Grandpa had lots of fun holding Logan and he was really good at making him fall asleep!! Grandma liked playing with Logan and getting him to burp and relax-he gets very gassy sometimes and will just scream, which makes me sad. We can't wait for the next time Grandma and Grandpa come visit!

Logan will be one month old on Friday! We will be taking him to a new doctor for his check up. The doctor that saw him in the hospital is a family doctor, but I just feel more comfortable taking him to a pediatrician. Mommy wants what is best for her boy!

2 Weeks Old

So this post is way overdue, because Logan is almost 3 weeks old. But, I still wanted to do one for 2 weeks. Logan is so much fun and makes me smile everyday! We measured him last week and he is 21.5 inches-he's a growing boy! He is doing a really good job of lifting his head when you are holding him. We think he is going to be really strong. We also love when he looks around at stuff-he has some of the best facial expressions! Both Grandma and Grandpa Sossi just love him. It has been really great having them here to help out. I don't know what I am going to do when they leave! Logan is getting much better about eating too. Both he and I have gotten the hang of it and it's great bonding time for us. I like being the only one that can feed him for right now and I will be sad when I have to go back to work. We have also had some good nights of sleep. Just the other night Logan slept from 2am-8am! It was very nice for Mommy and Daddy. Mommy even got a little startled at 6am when I woke up and couldn't believe he hadn't woken up-I put my hand on him to make sure he was still breathing! Logan is also taking naps in his own crib during the day-but he won't be sleeping in there at night for a few more weeks. It's just easier for feeding him, when he is right there by us at night. OK, so the time is already going by way too fast! Our boy is 1 week old today! Let me go ahead and back track to last Wednesday:

We got to the hospital at 8:15am to be induced. The nurse got me in my room and hooked me up to all the monitors and started my bag of fluids in an IV. Since I still wanted to go natural, they only gave me half the bag so I could get up and walk around. I was having some contractions when they put me on the monitor-and it turns out I had been feeling them at home too, but didn't know that they were contractions. A little after 9am, my doctor came down and broke my water. I was also dilated 2-3cm and 80% effaced. She said she'd come back between 12 and 1 to see what kind of progress I was making. After she left, the contractions started getting stronger. The nurse came back and unhooked me from everything and I got up to walk around. We made it around the unit 2 times and then I wanted to get back in the room. I got back in the bed and the contractions were even stronger. At first, Jason thought it was a little funny because he couldn't believe I was already in that much pain so fast. He was thinking that this was going to take all day and he kept telling me if I wanted an epidural he wouldn't think bad of me. He ended up taking it upon himself to get the nurse that does the epidurals, just so she could come talk to me about it. We had to wait 30 minutes for her to get into the room. Meanwhile, my nurse was asking if I wanted stadol to take some of the edge off but I told her I wanted the epidural. So, when the nurse came in to talk to me they told her I had decided to get one. She said they had to finish my bag of fluids and then she'd be back. Well, they finished my fluids and as she came in with her cart I had a really strong contraction. I yelled out, "I need to push him out!" The nurse checked me and said I was 100% and 10cm! I had made it! I ended up not getting the epidural since I had already come that far. They called my doctor down (after I kept saying, "Call Dr. Duran. I need her down here.") and I started pushing at 11:30am and Logan Brent was born at 12:03PM. I am very glad that I got to experience my natural childbirth. Although there were parts of it that were very hard, it was all worth it in the end. We were able to hold him right away and spend some family time with him before the rest of our family had made it to the hospital. I do have to say though, my quick labor and delivery was an answer to prayer. It was prayed over me several times during my pregnancy and then it actually happened! God is good!

Here we are, one week later! Everyone is doing great! We took Logan to the doctor today and he weighs 7lbs 12oz. He weighed 7lbs 3oz when we brought him home, so he is back past his birth weight and doing great! Dr. Rhodes said he looks really good and everything checked out good with him. Jason and I will be working on keeping Logan awake more during the day so we can hopefully get more sleep at night. Right now, Logan sleeps about 2 hours at a time at night-so we have all been sleeping in everyday. Jason and I LOVE spending time with him! He is just so cute and fun to watch. He makes lots of facial expressions and sounds. Grandma Sossi will be here on Saturday, and we are really looking forward to having her here. Her grandson can't wait to meet her!
